A family business with a passion for bikes.
Three generations in the Bergmannkiez
Our story here begins in 1969. That's when my grandfather came to Berlin as a "Gastarbeiter" — one of the guest workers invited to Germany after the war — and made the Bergmannkiez his home. My father was still a child back then; he grew up here and went to school here. These few streets have been our home for more than 50 years.
From the flea market to our own shop
BikeShop Friesen didn't start as a classic bike shop, but very small at the flea market on Bergmannstraße — just a few steps from where my father grew up. We, father and son, started there at weekends with individual bike parts and one or two second-hand bikes. Over time, more and more people came to us, not just to buy, but also with small repairs right on the spot.
The growing demand gradually led to more than just a hobby. When the opportunity arose to take over a small commercial space, we took the next step and opened our first own bike shop in 2016. With little start-up capital, many financial challenges and countless hours of work, BikeShop Friesen was born.
Today
Since then we have remained loyal to the same address in the Bergmannkiez and have built up our family business over the years with great passion, honesty and hard work. Today we still stand for personal service, fair advice and reliable bike repairs — from everyday bikes to high-end sports bikes.
BikeShop Friesen is still run by father and son. Not an anonymous team, but a real family standing behind their craft.
