Hydraulic brake service Berlin-Kreuzberg

Hydraulic brake bleeding in Berlin-Kreuzberg

Hydraulic brakes are precise and reliable — but they need regular care. When air gets into the hydraulic system, the bite point turns soft and braking power drops. In our bike workshop we bleed hydraulic brake systems from all common brands professionally, with original fluid and the right tools.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ

How often should hydraulic brakes be bled?

With normal use every 1 to 2 years, or when the bite point changes. Mineral oil systems like Shimano and Magura last longer than DOT systems like SRAM and Avid.

What is the difference between mineral oil and DOT brake fluid?

Mineral oil for Shimano and Magura — less aggressive and longer lasting. DOT for SRAM and Avid — higher boiling point but hygroscopic, it absorbs moisture. Never mix systems, it destroys the seals.

Can I bleed hydraulic brakes myself?

Technically possible, but very error-prone without the right tools. The wrong oil or air in the system makes the brake unusable. We recommend leaving it to a professional.

What does hydraulic brake bleeding cost in Berlin?

From €35 per brake including brake fluid at BikeShop Friesen in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Both brakes cheaper on request.
